Our client, a reputable Toronto firm is currently looking for a IP Litigation Assistant. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide legal administrative support to assigned lawyers;

- Accurately proofread, format, and assist with various legal and general materials;

- Schedule meetings and conferences;

- Draft/edit correspondence and legal documents from precedents and/or dictation;

- Manage calendars for lawyers;

- Assist in preparation for hearings/trials;

- Generate and prepare monthly bills from start to finish;

- Open and close files;

- Manage communications and correspondence, responding when needed;

- Prepare and maintaining a bring-forward system;

- Maintain electronic filing system;

- Liaise with the courts and clients;

- Prepare and submit expenses, calendar management, coordinate meetings and book travel arrangements;

- Manage workflow of files from beginning to end; and

- Additional tasks as required.

Requirements:

- Minimum 5 years in a litigation role working in an IP environment, including experience liaising with the Federal Court;

- Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma from an Accredited Institution;

- Experience working with the Ontario Courts is an asset;

- Knowledge of patent and trademark prosecution;

- Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Outlook and Excel);

- Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work well under pressure and effectively meet deadlines;

- Immaculate proofreading and grammar skills;

- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;

- Solid attention to detail and time management skills; and

- Ability to prioritize and meet urgent deadlines.
